The Pantheon

In Rome there is a place called the Pantheon which has a dome shaped ceiling with an opening that allows any type of weather to enter this preserved tenple. The floor is slightly uneven to allow the rain water move to the sides of this place where the Romans worshipped their pagan gods. I'm sure you're asking what this has to do with the restoration of my house. There is some humor behind it. With all of the rain this past week, I secretly wished for the Pantheon ceiling to clean all my floors and walls.

Nonetheless, I managed to get by with some swiffers , a bucket, and sponge to wash and prep my finally seamless ceilings and walls. While it may not look like much, I can truly say my makeunder got its first real coat of foundation and it looks pretty good for my first time taping drywall.

Next, I'll be painting the walls now that they are primed, mold out the fireplace, and I have a nice thought on the back wall moving into the stairway.

In Rome I was amazed by the colors not only in the historical museums but also out on the streets. I thought I'd use some of these ideas in my office area by putting up wallpaper. Such a crazy idea considering I just spent several weeks taking it off in December. I should have known it was a bad idea since I tried not one but two different types of wallpaper on one wall. I'm a risk taker with designs and ideas and sometimes I'm too quick to try something. However, I can rapidly take something down if I instantly don't like it.

Now on my third attempt at jazzing up this one wall, I put a combination of Magnolia design and the Spanish Steps into the area.

Here's the final look.

The room smells like lilacs and I can't wait to change the flowers throughout the next few months. I love how it turned out. This "easy" project took all day and well into the night, but I'm thrilled with the results. This one was quite the journey considering I wanted this room completed in December. However, the additional time and trip to another continent has made this room quite an adventure.
